Gemstones are Back

Gemstones are Back

As our collectors will remember, we paused production of our gemstone pieces in June 2025 to devote our attention to moving the Portland showroom to New York City. We are now happily settled in, and I am excited to announce we will begin making jewels again this year in small-batch collections, limited editions, and seasonal releases.

In years past, we offered every style year-round, with small pauses only if we were out of certain loose stones. Moving forward this will change, and I want to explain a little bit more about why.

Sourcing gorgeous gemstones takes time. I personally source all of the stones for George Rings — attending ethical gem shows all over the world, closely inspecting color and clarity, and building relationships with respected mines who can verify their chains of custody. Most suppliers offer only pre-cut gemstones in faceted shapes, and as my designs require cabochons of very specific dimensions and curvature, I must also find ones who are willing to do custom lapidary work.

Once a relationship is established, variables with timelines, calibration, and shipping or customs delays are common, all of which makes constant availability nearly impossible. Planning far in advance for small groups of specific colors (and in some cases pre-casting certain styles) is a much more respectful pace for my goldsmiths. And it makes the offerings more exciting, anticipated, and special.

For winter 2026, we are delighted to be starting with a curated selection of blue-green tourmaline delights. Enjoy!

XO,
