I would really love to feel and try your rings in person. Do you have a store?

Portland Studio

We have a studio in Portland, Oregon, where we are pleased to host personal consultations by appointment. Our consultations are fun, informative, and always pressure-free, so please don't feel intimidated to book. We'd love to meet you!

Video Consultations

If you are unable to meet us in person, we also offer phone and video consultations. These are surprisingly helpful and are a great option if you would like to discuss sizing, hand/finger shape, different ring combinations and stacks, etc.

Trunk Shows

We frequently travel and host trunk shows to allow potential and existing collectors the chance to touch the jewelry.

Subscribing to our email list is the best way to keep informed of our travel plans. We also post our travel schedule here and on Instagram.

Does your 18k gold contain any nickel?

No. Our recycled 18k gold casting grains are composed of 75% fine gold metal and 25% metal alloys (copper, silver, and zinc only). Our 18k gold pieces do not contain nickel.

How do I know my ring size?

Finding your perfect fit is a matter of individual preference. As hands fluctuate throughout the day depending on temperature, humidity, and activities, it's wise to measure several times before choosing a size. You can review the printable sizing chart and find more tips here. If you are still unsure and this is your first ring, we recommend this set of sizers. These are the same sizers we use to size your rings.

If you'd like more information and reassurance, please book a personal consultation with us. We are happy to talk more specifically with you about your finger shape and specific rings or combinations of rings.

What if I choose the wrong size? Can my ring be resized?

We are happy to resize your ring for you. Simply contact us with your request and order number, and we will provide you with an insured shipping label and instructions. The cost to resize is $150-$300 per ring for up to one whole ring size, up or down. If you need a size larger or smaller than one whole ring size, we will provide you with a custom quote.

You can also choose to have your ring resized by a local jeweler. Please note that the buttery edges that define our rings require extra attention and care when they are polished. It may be helpful, therefore, to provide specific instructions to respect the timeworn edges and soft curves.

How do I request a catalog or lookbook?

Are all of George Rings pieces unique?

Yes. Every ring, pendant, and earring is cast by hand in Portland, Oregon (no overseas factories, no outsourcing). Each piece will have some natural variation, and that is part of their beauty. No two pieces are ever exactly alike, so precise replication should not be expected.

Is all George Rings jewelry solid 18k yellow gold?

All of our cast pieces are made of fair trade, recycled 18k yellow gold, and every piece is solid (nothing hollow). You can read more about why we think 18k yellow gold is the most beautiful metal here.

Our round box chains are solid 14k yellow gold.

What will my 18k gold ring look like after one month? One year?

All of our pieces are finished with a high polish that will develop a magnificent patina over time. This patina is the result of tiny nicks and scratches that begin to appear almost immediately upon use. A flawless, high polish is not the disposition of 18k gold, nor is it our aim. Our jewelry is designed to be worn and to show the marks of daily life. The warmth and softness of each piece will deepen over time to become truly yours.

How should I care for my 18k gold jewelry?

Please see our page: Caring for Your Jewels

Do you make custom pieces?

Here and there we like to take on custom projects when we feel there is a match between what the collector is looking for and what we have the capacity to create. Please let us know if there are certain styles or variations you'd like to see. We may be able to help, or we may incorporate them into future collections!

Can you incorporate my family gold or gemstones into your pieces?

We understand the sense of waste of having a gold piece that you don't wear, and the instinct to repurpose it into something more desirable.

Unfortunately, we cannot incorporate family gold into our rings because of porosity, consistency, and color considerations of the gold. We use proprietary 18k gold casting grains that are made specifically for our rings and contain our particular alloy contents and ratios. (18k gold is 75% pure gold, 25% alloys of copper, silver, and zinc.) We select the ratio of alloys in order to get the perfect warm color of our 18k gold.

In order to use family gold, we’d essentially have to turn it into scrap metal and fully reprocess it, which would not save money or insure that it’s your particular gold that ends up in the final ring.

We have similar constraints with respect to family gemstones. Our gemstone pieces are cast from molds that are made to hold stones which are custom cut by our lapidary for our bezel dimensions. We are not able to change the shape or dimensions of our bezels to accommodate anything other than our stones.

Do you offer engraving services?

Yes. For an additional $135, you can request up to 12 characters for engraving on the inside of any of our rings. The option to add engraving can be found on each product page. Engraving adds 7-10 days to the overall processing time.

What is the difference between a lab grown gem and a mined gem?

A lab grown gem is cultivated rather than mined from the earth. It is identical to a mined gem in every way - molecular structure, refractive index, dispersion, hardness, luster, and appearance. Lab grown gems have the same chemical, physical and optical properties as their mined counterparts because they are formed under equivalent conditions. Just as a fir tree in the wild is the same as a fir tree planted and grown in a park, grown gems are identical to mined gems.

Emeralds, for example, are formed in nature when beryllium, aluminum, silicon, and oxygen flow together in hydrothermal veins deep in the earth’s crust and then cool. The same intensive process of slowly heating and cooling these four elements is re-created in a controlled environment when producing lab grown emeralds. The emeralds are every bit as real, but they are not mined from the earth.

At George Rings, we create heirloom jewelry from the most precious and beautiful of nature's raw materials. We are committed to sourcing the most lustrous, durable, and precious gems from the most ethical supply chains we can find, whether grown or mined.

What do you recommend for wedding or bridal sets?

Our favorite commitment sets are The Sovereign paired with the Dominus Band, The Empire paired with the Essential Band, the Dominus Band and Dominus Band Grand, the Essential Band and the Essential Band Grand, and the Capitol - alone. See our collection of simple wedding bands here.
